Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has proved to be the most successful Hindi film in India. While Ranveer is the lead star of the film, the other characters in the film have also received a lot of appreciation. The character of Lulli, played by Naseem, appears early on in the film and leaves a lasting impact on Ranveer’s Hamza. Lulli tries to sexually assault Hamza as he is trying to find his way in Karachi. In a recent interview, Naseem said that he refused to do this scene after he read it as he was quite intimidated by the idea of performing this with Ranveer.

In a chat with Filmygyan, Naseem said, “When I read the scene, I said I won’t do it. After reading the scene, I was very nervous. I am such a big fan of Ranveer Singh. I was also thinking that he is such a big star, how will I do this with him?” Naseem said that he told the assistant director that he won’t be able to do this, but before the shoot, Ranveer called him and spoke to him to make him comfortable. “Ranveer sir called me and he spoke to me,” he said and added, “Whatever love and appreciation I am getting for my work here, it is all because of the team of Dhurandhar.”

Naseem continued that Ranveer made him “so comfortable” that he could get rid of his hesitation and perform without any inhibitions. “He doesn’t make you feel like you are working with a star. He comes in with such great energy and he gives that energy to his co-actors also. He is very down to earth. The way he hugs you… He immediately makes you feel comfortable,” he said.

Recalling how Ranveer advised him on set, Naseem shared, “He spoke to me about the character, and if I was going out of character, he would bring me back.” Talking about the assault scene, he shared that they did two takes here. “That character is a little lusty and brutal. In the first take, he looked a little too brutal so we reduced that in the second take,” he said.

Naseem’s character Lulli was a member of Babu Dakait’s gang, who was killed by Akshaye Khanna’s Rahman Dakait in broad daylight on the streets of Lyari. The character was also responsible for the killing of Rahman’s son, which eventually connects Rahman to Hamza.
