UGC NET December 2025 Begins on Dec 31: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET December 2025 examination from December 31. UGC NET will be conducted in a single shift, while from January 2 onwards, the test will be held in two shifts each day and continue until January 7, 2026, as per the schedule released by the agency.

According to the examination plan, candidates will appear for Paper I and Paper II in a single session of three hours, conducted back-to-back without any break. The NTA has issued a detailed timing and schedule framework outlining entry windows, gate closing times, login procedures, and examination durations for both shifts.

Candidates are advised to follow the reporting instructions carefully, as entry after the stipulated time will not be permitted under any circumstances.

UGC NET December 2025: Reporting time for different shifts

The NTA has reiterated that candidates are required to report at least 90 minutes before the examination begins to complete security checks, document verification, and biometric attendance. Entry is prohibited after the gate closing time.

Shift I: Reach the exam centre by 7:30 am to 7:45 am to complete frisking and verification well before the start of the test.

Shift II: Reach the centre by 1:30 pm to 1:45 pm for timely completion of pre-exam formalities.

Candidates should note that latecomers are not allowed entry after 8:30 am for the morning shift and 2:00 pm for the afternoon shift. Once the examination begins, candidates are not permitted to leave the exam hall before the completion of the three-hour duration, as both papers are conducted in a continuous session.

UGC NET December 2025: Mandatory items to carry at the exam centre

— Printed UGC NET December 2025 admit card downloaded from the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. Candidates are advised to carry an A4-size printout with the photograph clearly visible.

— Original valid photo identity proof, such as Aadhaar card, passport, PAN card, voter ID, driving licence, or any other government-issued ID.

— One or two recent passport-size photographs, preferably the same as uploaded in the application form, for pasting on attendance sheets if required.

UGC NET December 2025: Permitted items at the exam centre

–A simple, transparent ball-point pen. While pens may be provided at some centres, candidates are advised to carry their own.

–A transparent water bottle is permitted by the examination centre.

–Essential medical items, such as medicines or sugar tablets, along with a valid prescription, if applicable.

The NTA has clearly stated that the following items are not allowed under any circumstances:

–Electronic and communication devices, including mobile phones, smart watches, digital or analogue watches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, fitness bands, calculators, and electronic pens.

Stationery items beyond basic requirements, such as log tables, printed or blank paper, geometry boxes, scales, or mechanical pencils.

–Bags, handbags, wallets, purses, or pouches, as most centres do not provide storage facilities.

–Metallic jewellery, ornaments, heavy accessories, belts with large metal buckles, badges, or brooches that may hinder frisking procedures.

–Books, notebooks, written material, food items (except on medical grounds), or any object that could be used for unfair means.

For more detailed and specific instructions, candidates can check their admit cards, exam date, shift, reporting time, and centre address, and reach the venue well in advance to avoid last-minute issues on the day of the examination.
