Mohanlal’s mother Santhakumari passes away, Mammootty rushes to his home with wife

The Malayalam superstar shared a warm bond with his mother and often spoke fondly of her. The first thing Mohanlal did upon his return to Kochi after receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award was meet Santhakumari. On the occasion of Mother’s Day this year, he shared an old photo featuring him and his mother.

Mohanlal has often said that it was very distressing for his mother to watch scenes in which he was being beaten up by villains, even though it was just for a movie. During the early days of his career, his mother frequently got upset seeing him in villainous roles.

Malayalam megastar Mammootty, along with his wife Sulfath, reached Santhakumari’s Elamakkara residence soon after hearing the news of her demise to pay his last respects to his dear friend’s mother. Her mortal remains will be taken to Thiruvananthapuram later, and her funeral will reportedly take place on December 31. Mohanlal is the youngest of Santhakumari and Viswanathan Nair’s two children. The couple lost their eldest son, Pyarelal, in 2000.

The Malayalam superstar was most recently seen in the epic fantasy action drama Vrusshabha. Mohanlal is married to Suchitra, the daughter of veteran producer K Balaji, and they have two children together, Pranav and Vismaya.
