Mayor8217;s homage
Mayor Umakant Joshi on Wednesday paid homage to two Vadodara residents who laid down their lives on this day in 1942 near Ahmedavadi Pole during the freedom struggle. Representatives of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation8217;s administrative and elected wings also paid floral tributes to the memorial set up in the area.

Dr G M Oza, former professor of M S University, has been nominated to the Interdisciplinary Committee of the World Cultural Council, Mexico.

CM8217;s tour
Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel continued his election tour of Central Gujarat, addressing public meetings at various places in Godhra and Dahod on Wednesday. He also called on the family of army jawan Bhalabhai Bharia, who was killed by militants in Jammu and Kashmir. He was accompanied by the BJP candidates from Godhra and Dahod parliamentary seats, Bhupendrasinh Solanki and Babubhai Katara respectively.

Cong in Mandvi
Surat: Seven-time Congress MP Chhitubhai Gamit filed his nomination papers for the Mandvi reserved constituency on Tuesday in the presence of party workers from Uchhal, Nizar, Songadh, Chikhli and Vyara. Incidentally, Gamit8217;s brother Keekubhai, 68, died of a cardiac arrest on Sunday.
