
Student with four revolvers held in city
One Rishi Arya, a Class XI student of an Ahmedabad school, was arrested with countrymade revolvers and nine live cartridges from the Vadodara railway station by the railway police on Thursday night. Officials said Arya disembarked from the Jammu-Tawi Express in the afternoon. His movements in the waiting room aroused suspicion, leading to a search and arrest. He reportedly told the police he had bought the revolvers from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. Details are awaited.

A delegation of Indrapuri Nagrik Samiti of Panigate area called on Police Commissioner J Mahapatra and submitted a memorandum demanding a judicial inquiry into the May 11 firing on Congress councillor Shailesh Mehta, alias Sotta. Meanwhile, Sotta told Express Newsline he would seek an CBI inquiry soon.
Contamination
Cases of water contamination were reported from three more housing societies 8212; Radheyshyam Society and Sundaramnagar on the Kishanwadi road and Industrial Society in Sama 8212; on Thursday. Drainage and sewage committee chairperson Jashoda Sonera said she would visit the areas on Friday.
Mobiles back
Fifteen-odd municipal officers of the ranks of assistant municipal commissioners and executive engineers got back their mobile phones on Thursday. The phones had been withdrawn last week on the grounds that they already had walkie-talkie sets for internal communications.
