Counterfeit notes at BoB
The Nagarwada branch of the Bank of Baroda detected 21 counterfeit currency notes in denominations of Rs 100 in a bundle of Rs 20,000 deposited by an employee of a Sayajigunj-based chartered accountant. According to the Karelibaug police, which has registered a case, cashier Rajendra Kumar Barot detected the fake notes which were interspersed among the genuine ones.

Admission forms
The admission forms of the Faculty of Performing Arts will be available at the faculty office from May 25 to June 26 between 11.30 am and 2.30 pm. The form costs Rs 10 while the prospectus costs Rs 40.

Power theft
The Gujarat Electricity Board has detected power theft worth Rs 2.10 crore during raids conducted in different parts of the State from May 3 to 9. According to an official spokesperson, out of the 13,256 connections checked in various categories, irregularities were detected in 1,316 cases. Bills have been served to them.

MSU registrar
The name of H V Bhavnani has been proposed for the post of Registrar of M S University at the Syndicate meeting scheduled to be held on May 21. The proposal seeks to remove the present in-charge registrar N M Pandya. The meeting will also discuss the issues of bogus admissions in the commerce faculty and the running of unauthorised IGNOU classes at the university.

Cleanliness drive
District Panchayat president Kalyan Patel will inaugurate a cleanliness drive at the panchayat building on Thursday as part of Swachh Gujarat campaign. An official release said that this would also mark the beginning of the six day district-wide cleanliness and health drive being initiated to check the outbreak of seasonal diseases.
