Prayers to mark Id
Id-ul-fitr, marking the end of 30 days of fast, will be celebrated by offering prayers and namaz in Idgah and mosques in the city on Wednesday morning. Id prayers will be offered in the Idgah at 9 am and at the Jama Masjid near Mandvi at 8.30 p.m. Meanwhile, Gujarat Minority Board Chairman Gani Qureshi has greeted the people on the occasion.

Bandh call
The Sangharsh Samiti of the 21 villages to be included in VMC limits has called for a bandh on Wednesday to protest against the inclusion. Samiti Convenor Bharti Patel, who is the sarpanch of Bajwa, said villagers of all 21 villages will observe the day-long bandh.

Pool reopened
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation8217;s Sardarbaug Swimming Pool was reopened for members on Tuesday, according to a statement issued here on Tuesday.

Bal mela
Bal Mela 8217;99, organised by the Nagar Prathamik Shikshan Samiti, will be held from January 24 to 26 at Sayajibaug. The Mela will be inaugurated on January 24 near the Sardar Patel Planetarium, Sayajibaug, at 9.30 am.

Polio drive
More than 2.62 lakh children below the age of five years were administered pulse polio drops on December 6 and January 17, District Development Officer Anju Sharma said in a statement. The turnout was more than 108 per cent, she said.

7-day banking
The Punjab National Bank, Atmajyoti Ashram Road, Vadodara will introduce seven-day banking system from January 31. A statement on Tuesday said the decision to keep the bank open on all seven days of the week was aimed at providing better services to customers.
