District Collector Anil Mukim will inaugurate an awareness drive against malaria in Vadodara on June 16. According to a release by District Development Officer Anju Sharma on Friday the drive was being organised by District Panchayat Department and the Malaria Control Society.

Students8217; Demand
General Secretary of the Commerce Faculty, M S University Jigar Inamdar has demanded that the M S University authorities should not hesitate to decide on allowing students to apply for third year if they had an ATKT. Inamdar said that the rule already existed in the Faculty of Science from years hence it should be implemented in the Faculty of Commerce also.

Traffic fine
The Traffic police collected Rs 5.82 lakh by way of penalty on vehicle drivers violating traffic rules in May. Assistant Commissioner of Police Traffic R A Munshi said that 8,847 cases of traffic violations were booked during the month, including wrong parking and rash driving.

Appointment
K A Somasekharan has taken charge as regional manager of the United India Insurance Company Limited, Vadodara region. He had earlier served as the divisional manager in Ahmedabad and as the senior divisional manager in Surat.

VMC resignation
Devika Patel, BJP councillor from ward number 10, is reported to have sent her resignation to Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria. Patel is away in America for the past several months. Sources in the VMC8217;s administrative wing, said there was no point in her forwarding a resignation letter as she was already disqualified by the State Election Commission for not attending General Board meetings for six months without permission.

Vehicle numbers
The Regional Transport Office will allot new numbers for taxis under series GJ-6-X 1 to 2000 from June 16, as the GJ-6-U-1 to 2000 series was exhausted. Those wanting to get a number of their choice should contact the RTO office at Varasia between 11 am and 6 pm on all working days, according to an official release.
