PUNE, Feb 21: The Rotary Club of Chinchwad, is launching a major vaccination programme in March in which typhoid Hepatitis-B vaccines will be given to students at concessional rates.

The typhoid vaccine will cost Rs 110 while the Hepatitis-B vaccine will cost Rs 200. The vaccines have been made available at highly subsidised costs on a no-profit no-loss basis, president of the Rotary Club Chinchwad Dr Achyut Kalantre said.

The vaccines will be given to all children below the age of ten years. Children above ten years and parents too can avail the facility of vaccination for which the rates will be higher than the subsidised rates. Immunisation against the two diseases is very necessary, particularly when there is high risk of spread of the diseases during the summer season. The vaccination removes the risk of acquiring the diseases for a period of three years, Dr Kalantre said.
