
SAS NAGAR, MAY 21: After teaching for 33 years at the post-graduate and under-graduate levels, even at foreign universities, Dr Kehar Singh, the newly appointed chairman of Punjab School Education Board PSEB, is now all set to confront the problems facing the board.
Talking to Newsline, Kehar Singh said quot;Our academic staff needs to upgrade its knowledge so that it gets reflected in the books of the board and thus benefit the childrenquot;.
He said that priority would be given to streamlining the functioning of the administrative wing of the board so that people from far off place could get their work done quickly.8220;I myself was a union leader and I can well understand the problems of the union8221;, he said.
Answering a volley of questions, Kehar Singh said: 8220;As I have now come to a new place it would take me sometime to get familiar with it. I will try to get down to the root cause of the problems, and then only can talk about overstaffing in the board, car misuse and the other problems8221;. As far as unfair means and mass copying problem is concerned, he said, a five set of question paper concept reduces cheating, and other new methods would also be worked out.
