New Delhi, Feb 14: A 61-year-old woman, who spends most of her time gathering cowdung for fuel in her village, is a Uttar Pradesh Inter-district Shooting champion. Prakashi Tomor lives in Johri Village in Baghpat District, a nursery of shooters. She took up shooting after watching youngsters in the village indulge in the sport. For the last two years, she has been outclassing the men in the veterans air pistol event.
Last week, she won the Uttar Pradesh inter-district air pistol event for veterans over 55 years by scoring 298 points. According to Raj Pal Singh, president of Rifle Association of Johri, the sport is a craze in the village.
