NEW DELHI, May 8: Two undertrials were injured in a clash inside Tihar jail last morning. One of them was injured seriously when sharp-edged weapons were used by two groups in a fight that followed the morning prayers. The injured were admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.

According to sources at Tihar jail, the fight began around 10 a.m. yesterday when the prisoners were returning from their morning prayers. 20-year-old Kingkar Mandal was beaten up by three other under-trials 8211; Ruman, Bahadur and Tapas inside jail no 5.

According to Mandal8217;s statement, Ruman struck him on the head with a weapon made by cutting aluminium plates and spoons. A case of attempt to murder under Section 307 of the IPC has been registered against the three. Ruman who had also received minor injuries on his head, apparently inflicted by a similar sharp-edged weapon, has registered a cross-complaint against Mandal and Bahadur.
