In a veiled threat to the Congress high command and the party-led United Democratic Front UDF coalition in Kerala, senior leader K.Karunakaran said the coalition8217;s future was unsure.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Karunakaran said: 8216;8216;If we continue with the state of affairs as they are now, then the UDF may not continue the way it is.8217;8217;
With that the peace brokered by party chief Sonia Gandhi between the warring factions, led by Karunakaran and CM A.K. Antony, seems to have been broken. It indicates a different interpretation of the high command8217;s decision to let the Karunakaran faction off with a warning for its support to a rebel candidate during Rajya Sabha elections. Sonia8217;s political secretary Ahmed Patel, who is also in-charge of Kerala, is expected to sort the matter out when he visits the state on June 9.
Speaking about the non-performance of the Kerala government, Karunakaran mentioned the Marad violence to show the law and order situation in the state was far from normal.
