
A Thane court has refused permission to close an inquiry against Chandrakant Dandekar, a senior NCP leader from Palghar, by the Thane district rural police.
Dandekar is facing charges of rape and molestation by a schoolgirl in Thane since May 2008.
The girl hailed from Solapur and had come to stay with her relatives in Palghar. Dandekar, with the help of her relatives, had developed a relationship with the girl and allegedly harassed her sexually. He had threatened her of dire consequences if she complain with the police.
The girl went back to her nativeplace Solapur and lodged a complaint with police there. The case later transferred to Palghar and investigation is on.
In a similar case, NCP leader and a corporator of Thane Muncipal Corporation Najeeb Mulla is facing criminal charges by a dancer of Mira Road Ayesh Irfanali Hasme.
According to Hasme, she and Mulla had developed relationship since 2006 and he had promised to marry her.
But when she came to know that Mulla was getting ready to marry another girl, she filed a police complaint against him on last January 18. The next day, Mulla met Hasme and promised to marry her if she withdrew her complaint. With the promise, she stopped to follow up the police complaint.
But she filed a case againt Mulla in the First Class Judicial Magistrate court when Mulla failed to marry her.
