Illegal drinking: Four arrested
Four persons were arrested in a raid at a hotel here last night for allegedly consuming liquor.

Those arrested are Sector 21 resident Virender Sharma, Panchkula residents 8212; Om Parkash and Malkiat Singh. They were illegally consuming liquor at Hotel Punjabi Khana in Sector 22, when the police swooped down on the place.

Besides, the three, Yuvraj, who was serving liquor to them, was also arrested. All of them were held under the Excise Act. Police sources said on getting a tip-off that some epersons were illegally consuming liquor, a police party, led by a sub-inspector, raided the hotel. On seeing the police, they gobbled their respective drinks and tried to run away when they were nabbed.

Man held for assaulting wife
The police have arrested Sector 20 resident Surinder Kumar after he allegedly assaulted his wife.

Police sources said after a scuffle, the man started beating his wife and the knife that he was carrying hit the woman. She called up the police and the man was arrested.

The woman was sent to the Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital. Her condition is stated to be out of danger.
