ISLAMIC JIHAD: A radical group backed by Iran and Syria. Behind most Palestinian attacks against Israel since 2005. The group has close ties to Hizbollah in Lebanon.

AL AQSA MARTYRS’ BRIGADES: Affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement. Considered more moderate but has carried out numerous suicide attacks against Israelis. The group has at least 20,000 members.
