Two groups claim responsibility

Two Palestinian militant groups8212;Islamic Jihad and Al Aqsa Martyr8217;s Brigades8212;have claimed responsibility for the Eilat attack.

ISLAMIC JIHAD: A radical group backed by Iran and Syria. Behind most Palestinian attacks against Israel since 2005. The group has close ties to Hizbollah in Lebanon.

AL AQSA MARTYRS8217; BRIGADES: Affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas8217; Fatah movement. Considered more moderate but has carried out numerous suicide attacks against Israelis. The group has at least 20,000 members.
