Two Palestinian militant groups—Islamic Jihad and Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades—have claimed responsibility for the Eilat attack.

Two Palestinian militant groups—Islamic Jihad and Al Aqsa Martyr’s Brigades—have claimed responsibility for the Eilat attack.

ISLAMIC JIHAD: A radical group backed by Iran and Syria. Behind most Palestinian attacks against Israel since 2005. The group has close ties to Hizbollah in Lebanon.

AL AQSA MARTYRS’ BRIGADES: Affiliated with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement. Considered more moderate but has carried out numerous suicide attacks against Israelis. The group has at least 20,000 members.
