CHANDIGARH, Oct 29: The two-day seminar-cum-workshop on transparent and accountable administration concluded here at the UT State Guest House today. It was organised jointly by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, and the Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration, Punjab. The keynote address was given by Dr V.K. Agnihotri, Additional Secretary, Department of Personnel. He said the use of information technology was required.to promote transparency in administration.

Inaugurating the concluding day’s morning session, Haryana chief secretary R.S. Verma said there was a need for a good regulatory system otherwise the road to privatisation would be ruined.

Vineeta Rai, Advisor to the UT administrator, also attended the seminar.

Neurotology Update
The Third Annual Temporal Bone Dissection Workshop-cum-Neurotology Update was today inaugurated at the ENT Department of the PGI today by Dr S.B.S. Mann, Head of Department of ENT, PGI.

Over 25 participants from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir attended the workshop where training of performing surgical procedures of the temporal bone of the ear was imparted. Dr Mann said: "The programme has been organised to show the students how to do an ideal middle ear surgery…". Dr Ashok K. Gupta stressed on the need to achieve higher standards in offering surgical solutions to common ear diseases by way of having better trained surgeons in the region.
