A 25-year-old woman lost her life and her two children but managed to save several others, shoving them off the railway tracks as a train was approaching.

Sanjida Bibi was waiting near the tracks at Beladih village in Purulia for Javed 7 to return from school. She was carrying her younger son, Anquil, when the blare of loudspeakers at a house nearby, where a wedding was in progress, caught her attention. Around 20 children, out of school, were running across the tracks, distracted by the noise and oblivious to the approaching Hatia Passenger.

Sanjida yelled to the children but only some of them heard her and got off the tracks. She proceeded to the others, including Javed, but it was too late by then, Sanjida8217;s brother-in-law Taslimuddin Akhtar said.

Sanjida and Anquil died on the spot while Javed died on way to hospital.
