
CHANDIGARH, July 9: A ten-member expedition team was flagged off today to Memostong Kangri from Government Medical College, Sector 32. The expedition is organised to mark the 50th anniversary of India8217;s Independence by the Chandigarh Adventure Association. Raj Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, Samual Arthur and Ashish have done advance course in mountaineering.
Team: Raj Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, SM Soni, Ashis Sharma, Aurbindo Mitra, JS Raghu, Samual Arthur, Rajiv Atwal, Ashwani and Nand Lal.
World population day the Sports Authority of India SAI, Northern Centre, Sector 42, will organise races on the occasion of World Population on July 11.
According to a press release, the race would begin at 7 a.m., from St Xavier8217;s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44 and terminates at Sports Complex Sector 46. Chandigarh Sports Director K K Khandelwal will flag off the race.The race is symbolic and the participants would be given certificates and souvenirs.
Bhiwani Haryana and Bilaspur Himachal Pradesh are other two venue where the races would be held.
Death condoled
The Chandigarh Handball Association today condoled the death of international handball player Rajni Saini, who was killed in a road accident here yesterday. Expressing deep sorry over the death of Ranji, CHA general secretary Ravinder Talwar said 8220;the Union Territory has lost a most promising player.8221; He has also proposed to institute a torphy in memory of Ranji Saini.
