The Qatar-based Al Jazeera channel may have retrained its sights on the Gujarat violence and been a tad too critical in its J-K reportage but its correspondent in Delhi, Naseer Shadid, was informed of the decision to shift him just a few days ago. His senior, Rafat Yahya, has taken his place .
An Al Jazeera official in Qatar said: ‘‘The decision was taken a month ago and has nothing to do with Indian Government. It’s internal.’’ Shadid refused to comment.
The Central Monitoring Service has been closely watching Al Jazeera for the last six months. The service sends its reports regularly to the Home, Information and Broadcasting and Defence ministries.
