Vir Das, along with Kavi Shastri, has subverted the tropes of the spy actioner with Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos.

Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos box office collection Day 2: Spy-comedy Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, led by Vir Das, saw a marginal improvement at the box office on Day 2. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film collected around Rs 1.50 crore net on Saturday, up from Rs 1.25 crore on Friday.

With this, the film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 2.75 crore, indicating a modest but steady hold over its opening weekend.

Despite the slight Day 2 growth, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos continues to witness low audience turnout in key Hindi-speaking markets, with occupancy remaining subdued.

On Saturday, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 12.73%. It opened with 8.72% in morning shows, followed by 12.42% in the afternoon and 12.39% in the evening, while night shows performed relatively better at 17.38%.

On the sidelines of the Jaipur Literature Festival, Vir Das opened up about his latest film, Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, and its box office opening. Drawing a humorous comparison, he said, “If you think about it, we are less than the catering budget of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. We are probably the smallest film out there right now.”

Despite that, Das expressed satisfaction with the film’s opening performance. “That’s why, given how we opened, we’re very happy. Nobody was expecting us to get the opening numbers that we did.”

Describing the movie as a “niche, absurd comedy,” Vir Das noted that the team is pleased with the initial audience response. He also highlighted the importance of the coming days, saying, “Today and tomorrow are crucial, but for a small film like ours, we’re in a happy space.”

Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos stars Vir Das, Mithila Palkar, Mona Singh, and Imran Khan in key roles. It is backed by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Das and Kavi Shastri.
