PANCHKULA, August 30: Deputy Commissioner Vivek Joshi, who is also the president of the District Child Welfare Council, today presided over a function on the concluding day of the 33rd job training course for anganwadi workers.

The function was organised at the Anganwadi Workers8217; Training Centre in Sector 4 here. In the training programme, 45 anganwadi workers representing 15 ICDS blocks of Haryana, covering four districts 8212; Ambala, Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Panipat attended the three months training programme for the new recruits.

Speaking on the occasion, Joshi congratulated the trainees on their performance and said that the skills and knowledge gained through the training programme may be put to use at the anganwadi level. He further said that emphasis should be given to family planning programmes and the anganwadi workers should motivate the villagers at local level to adopt a small family norm.

A colourful cultural programme was presented by the trainees. Educational aids prepared by the trainees on the topics, pre-school education, health and nutrition and community participation were also displayed and a report was presented by the AWTC principal, Manjit Khurana. Apart from the syllabus prescribed for the training programme, a workshop on dance, a two-week workshop on painting and a training programme on nutrition, education and food preservation was also organised.
