The engine of the Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Mail got disconnected from its bogies twice on Sunday — once at Veli and then at Kazhakkuttam — after it started its journey from here, Railway sources said.

None of the passengers was hurt, sources said.

The driver first stopped the train at Veli when he noticed that the engine had got disconnected. He repaired the coupling system and resumed the journey.

However, the engine got disconnected again from the bogies when it reached Kazhakkuttam and was stopped there for check-up by mechanics who were called to the spot.
