VHP international secretary Praveen Togadia said Advani was forced to resign as he 8220;betrayed the nation, patriots and Ram bhaktas8221; by describing Jinnah as a secular leader. 8220;This is the fate of Jinnah loyalist. He has never been a Hindu bhakta, he pretended so. He even rode on a horse wearing clothes like Maharana Pratap. But once the clothes were gone, he is exposed.8221;

Resignation drama: Laloo

Patna: Calling Advani8217;s resignation a 8220;drama,8221; Railway Minister Laloo Prasad said if he was serious, Advani should resign from the RSS and take action against Gujarat CM Narendra Modi. 8220;I mean to say all these things are drama8221;, he told reporters.

JD-U backs remarks

New Delhi: JD U refused to comment on Advani8217;s resignation but backed his statements about Jinnah. 8220;His remarks have been blown out of proportion,8221; said Sharad Yadav. However, JDU leader Nitish Kumar has asked George Fernandes to call a party meeting for a 8220;deep and serious8221; discussion on the matter.

Jinnah not secular: Gaur

Bhopal: MP Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, remarking that Advani should reconsider his decision to quit, said Jinnah could never be considered secular. Gaur said as Advani was on a diplomatic mission to Pakistan, the statement could have been part of 8220;diplomacy.8221;

George asks for debate

NEW DELHI: NDA convenor George Fernandes said Advani8217;s remarks praising Jinnah won8217;t harm the NDA and there should be a debate on the issue. 8220;Rather than pointing fingers, let there be a debate. This relates to history of our country,8221; he said, adding, 8220;Jinnah, a secular man, was forced to organise Muslims by Congress.8217;8217;
