This revelation can make cricket lovers sit up and take note. After the cricketing community got to know of newcomer Manoj Tiwary8217;s reliance on Greg Chappell8217;s online coaching modules, came the more surprising Bob Woolmer connection.

Ask Tiwary8217;s personal coach Manobendra Ghosh, and you will hear the story of how the 21-year-old all-rounder sometimes practises a technique propounded by Woolmer, popularly known in coaching circles as 8216;eye stress relief8217;.

8220;It8217;s like this. In a match situation, a batsman gets the chance to relax his eyes at regular intervals because he gets to be at the non-striker8217;s at times,8221; Ghosh explained. 8220;So, the stress or the strain that the eyes take when the player bats is followed by welcome moments of relief when he at the non-striker8217;s end. But when a batsman practices at the nets, there8217;s no rotation of the strike, he8217;s the lone batsman facing deliveries without a break. That causes stress or strain on the eyes. This observation was made by Woolmer.8221;

Tiwary8217;s coach narrated how the famous coach suggested, based on this observation, that batsmen should take intermittent breaks during nets sessions or their levels of concentration suffer heavily. And it is this technique that coach Ghosh has tried to induce into the way Tiwary has been training under him.

Meanwhile, Tiwary trained rigorously this morning under his coach, for the first time since getting the call-up for the Indian team, at his club Sporting Union in the Maidan area.

And just as expected, the in-form middle-order batsman went through a number of intensive drills in tackling left-arm spin, which will be the backbone of the Bangladesh bowling attack during India8217;s tour starting May 2.
