
CHANDIGARH, SEPT 7: Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, beat St Soldier’s School, Sector 28, 4-1 via tie break to win the title in the under-14 football tournament for Shivalik Trophy at the Government Model School in Sector 23.
In the tie-break, Bhupinder Singh, Gagandeep, Harsimran and Rajinder Pal netted for Shivalik while Surinder scored for St Soldier’s School.Earlier, in the regulation period both the teams played attacking game but the scoreboard did not move.
Shivalik School lads dominated the opening 15 minutes of the play and Gagandeep came near to scoring but St Soldier’s goalie Bikram Dev Singh made a spectacular save.
In the later part of the first half, St Soldier’s forward line dominated the contest but the all-important goal eluded the team.
After the break, the ball tossed from one end to the other but no team could gain the upper hand.
During the meet four players were given the best players award. The players were Kuldeep Singh (Govt High School-37), Surinder Singh (Govt Model High School-38), Surinder Singh (St Soldier’s School) and Sahil Mehtat (Shivalik Public School-41).
