Three jawans held for rape

The woman, a maid servant, was standing in the Pune Municipal Transport bus terminus near the Pune Municipal Corporation building around 11 p.m. when one of the jawans approached her and claiming to be a policeman, asked her to accompany him to the police chowkey, according to the FIR. Instead, the three abducted her to a tent close to Chandani Chowk police chowkey on the road linking NDA with Bavdhan and Pashan and raped her, the FIR alleged.

Meanwhile, the NDA8217;s official spokesman said the woman8217;s claim of being abducted and raped was being verified by NDA officials. He said aspects such as why she accompanied the jawan for a 10 to 12 km distance and how policemen at the nearby police chowkey failed to notice her being abducted are being considered.
