
Three arrested for forgery, preparing fake I-cards
The South Delhi Police have arrested three persons on charges of forging and preparing fake identity cards of various Government departments. Police said the accused, Zia-ur-Rehman 23, Anis-ur-Rehman 23 and Mohd. Qumar UI Zama 21 worked for major mobile networks and forged documents for giving mobile phone connections to customers. Police officials said on October 20, a Cyber Cafe8217; owner 8220;who was sensitised under the 8216;Eyes and Ears8217; 8220; scheme informed Vasant Vihar Police Station about a suspicious person using the cafeacute;. The cafeacute; owner copied the information from the suspect8217;s pen-drive. On checking it, it was found that there were various fake ID cards of government departments. 8212; ENS
Police said the suspect was traced to Munirka with the help of technical surveillance. On Sunday, accused Anis-ur-Rehman was arrested and photocopies of six fake identity cards of sensitive government departments alongwith a mobile phone and two SIM cards were recovered from his possession.
Police arrested the other two accused after Rehman8217;s confessions. Police officials said the accused Zia ur Rehman and Mohammed Qumarul Zama were working as sales executives for leading mobile operators. To get maximum connections for their customers, they decided to use the computer expertise of the third accused, Mohd. Qumar ul Zama to procure fake identity cards.
Police said the gang sold over 100 mobile connections on the basis of these forged documents.
