The lone 26/11 attacker caught alive regrets what he has done, says the Crime Branch, which is interrogating the alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba LeT operative.

Mohammad Ajmal Mohammed Ameer Kasab, the Crime Branch says, has admitted that he was misled by his indoctrinators and handlers and wants to write to his father explaining how he was led astray. 8220;Two days ago, Kasab expressed a desire to write a letter to his farther to tell him how he was misled. We are examining the request,8221; said Rakesh Maria, Joint Commissioner of Police Crime.

The Crime Branch has also established the real identities of all ten terrorists who carried out the attacks, and announced today the areas in Pakistan from where they hail.

All of them hailed from Pakistan8217;s Punjab province: three including Kasab from Okara district, three others from Multan, two from Faisalabad, and one each from Sialkot and Dera Ismail Khan,8221; said Maria, refusing to divulge the names of the terrorists.

The Crime Branch wants to get more information out of Fahim Arshad Ansari, an alleged LeT operative arrested in February by the UP Special Task Force for the attack on the CRPF centre in Rampur.

A team will leave the city for Rampur to seek custody of Fahim. 8220;We have taken a transfer warrant from a local court today and will produce it in court tomorrow while pleading for his custody. Our team will leave tonight. We are seeking his custody as there is a reasonable apprehension that he was aware of the conspiracy,8221; Maria said.

During his interrogation, Fahim has admitted having carried out a recce of several important spots in the city in December and January. He had photographed and videographed these spots, which included Taj Mahal Hotel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus; later the 10 attackers were shown photos and videos of their targets. The police will grill Ansari to establish if those where the same images that he had shot.
