The Chandigarh Golf Club is set to raise a toast to its all-new formal bar today

We all know by now that the Chandigarh Golf Club is as busy on its greens as it is off it! And now they have an all-new reason to fill up their glasses and get clinking! For come Monday, November 3 and the Club8217;s 8216;Formal Bar8217; is set to open its all-new swanky glass doors to all its members. 8220;Have you seen it before?8221; questioned the club8217;s current president D S Bains as he offered us an exclusive look. Yes it was stuffy, dingy with aluminium framed windows8230;we border on being rude. Thankfully, Mr Bains doesn8217;t take offence. 8220;It was in a bad shape8230;very neglected. In fact, the previous managing committee had renovated the other informal bar but failed to spruce this one up falling short on funds,8221; Bains tells us leading the way to the now fully renovated version.

8220;Earlier I would have asked you to watch your step as you entered but that8217;s not needed now,8221; smiles Bains as we notice they are steps leading inside. 8220;The floor level has been lowered,8221; he adds as we take in the contemporary style-meets-club-like interiors of the place. 8220;We have the Uppals Group to thank for they have presented us the new bar on their expense,8221; mentions Bains who got the present managing committee to outsource the funds for the new bar. 8220;They not only gave us the money but got their own team to do it for us,8221; he adds as we notice the light pouring in through the huge glass panes. The brown and woody theme runs through with the upholstery but what8217;s nice is the way the greens follow you in. With no heavy drapes or blinds you can see the ninth and the 18th hole in action. 8220;It8217;s even better at night as the floodlights come on at both places,8221; he adds. Being a formal bar that8217;s got a strict dress code to boot, the seating is kept relatively private. 8220;Unlike the bar downstairs where one can lounge around with the family dressed in a T-shirt and shorts, the formal bar is a place for a quiet rendezvous,8221; tells Bains taking us towards the bar. The marble counter brings in diffused lighting and red bar stools to go. 8220;We will soon be having a signage by the Uppals group along with a United Spirits one at the bar,8221; the president mentions but not before he adds, 8220;The pantry is all-new too and unlike before it8217;s spick and span.8221; Cheers to that!
