Visiting about 200 educational institutes across India, students of IIT Kharagpur stop by in the city and invite all to their annual fest Kshitij
If the world has become a global village, India is just a small colony in it, one which students trot across to participate in the fest of other colleges and to invite them. With PEC sending delegations across the country to invite all to their annual fest, this time round we have visitors from as far as Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, giving the invites for their fest ‘Kshitij’. “I have visited colleges in Punjab, now I am heading to colleges in Chandigarh,” says Ashish Modi, member of the core organising team of Kshitij, as he hands out a brochure to us, which is complete with over 45 events, guest lectures and workshops packed in a span of four days.
Starting on January 29 to February 1, they tell us, like last year they are expecting over 3500 outstation and 6000 internal participants. “With prize money worth Rs 50 lakh to be won, students from various IITs, IIMs and NITs along with from Stanford and Princeton University among others have been visiting us since the inception of the fest in 2004,” he says they see a lot of participation from Chandigarh and Punjab. “Students here are very talented and so we try to rope in as many as possible,” he smiles.
Providing a melting pot to intermingle, collaborate to conceive and execute ideas, plans and presentation and to show and see talent, Modi says here students get to know about new cutting edge technologies and managerial methodologies being used world wide. “From categories like coding, mechanical, electronics, structures, robotics, entrepreneurial, quizzing to new events like car design, refrigeration, senate, zero hour to el dorado we will have et all,” he reels. For the computer junkies, they have hack and kryotech as the new additions.
With online registrations open for Kshitij 2009, the deadline for the first round of submissions is December 16. As for the online events like woodstock and forex, they start on October 15. For more information log on to ktj.in.
