
THANE, MARCH 18: As a drive to protest against transfer of Arun Bhatia is gaining momentum all over the State, a massive signature drive is on in Thane city since the last couple of days where lakhs of citizens have registered their protest against the abrupt transfer of crusading IAS officer Arun Bhatia.
The Thane railway station was selected by several social organisations to obtain signatures of the citizens to register their protest.
In a related development another section of citizen led by Vijay Bedekar, president of Satyashodh Sanstha organised a protest beat of like minded citizens in the city. They distributed pamphlets bringing out the manner in which the present government humiliated bureaucracy and bull-dozed the decisions for the gains.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary Bedekar, expressing anger over the sudden transfer of Pune Municipal commissioner within a week of his assuming office by the State Government, said something was rotten in the state of affairs in the Government,upright and efficient officials suffered and the common citizen have no options but to fall to the atrocities of politicians.
