NAGPUR, SEPT 22: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray has been booked by the Nagpur rural police for allegedly violating the Election Commission8217;s model code of conduct while addressing a public rally at Kalmeshwar under the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency near here on the evening of August 22. The polls were held on September 5.
The case was registered by the Kalmeshwar police under Section 123 and 125 of the People8217;s Representative Act following a plaint lodged yesterday by former president of Nagpur District Youth Congress Pratap Kate.
Kate alleged that during the Sena8217;s campaign rally at Kalmeshwar, Thackeray introduced BJP-Sena nominee for Ramtek Subodh Mohite as Maratha Gadi, Yashacha Dhani, thus, making a subtle appeal to the Maratha community to vote in favour of Mohite, he stated. The police are investigating.
