
Mumbai, Jan 6: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital this evening after he complained of exhaustion and breathlessness. However, immediate cardiac investigations showed him to be normal on most parameters, said doctors attending on him. Thackeray was advised to stay the night at the hospital.
Party sources said that Thackeray who was in Khopoli-Karjat for pre-decided engagements told his attendants in the afternoon that he was not 8220;feeling too well8221;. He was subsequently flown to Mumbai and attended to by his cardiac surgeons Dr Nitu Mandke and Dr Jamshed Dalal. He has been advised rest and relaxation for a few days.
Incidentally, it was his late wife Meentai8217;s birth anniversary. Thackeray was in their private farmhouse in Karjat where she passed away in September 1996. He was in the area to attend a programme in her honour at Ramadham, near Karjat.
A late evening statement from Shivalaya, party office, said that Thackeray was in good health but was taking rest atLilavati hospital. It urged party workers to not seek a meeting with him.
