With the political turmoil in the state coming to an end with Dharam Singh8217;s exit as CM and the Governor, T N Chaturvedi, inviting JDSLP leader HD Kumaraswami to form government, all was quiet here on Sunday. The three major political parties seemed to have gone into hibernation.
Dharam Singh today cancelled his scheduled visit to the valedictory function of the 72nd Kannada Sahitya Sammellana in Bidar, while former JDS president H D Deve Gowda went on a pilgrimage to temples in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
It was coincidence that his son and CM-designate, Kumaraswamy, also chose to visit temples in these two states. Deputy-CM-in-waiting B S Yediyurappa went to Mysore to seek the blessings of the Suttur mutt seer Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamy.
This lull after the storm is likely to continue for the next few days, until BJP state unit leaders along with JDS members visit New Delhi to finalise the power-sharing agreement on February 1. The BJP is expected to finalise its list of 18 Cabinet ministers, including Yediyurappa, during the meeting in the Capital.
Sources said both Kumaraswamy and Yediyurappa, who are under immense pressure from legislators aspiring for ministerial berths, used this excuse to flee Bangalore at least till they leave for New Delhi on Wednesday.
