NEW DELHI, June 13: Construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is going on in 8220;full swing8221;, Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Ashok Singhal has said.

8220;However, the VHP does not expect anything from the government or the BJP on the issue of Ram janmabhoomi,8221; Singhal said in an interview to Star-TV for its Janata ki Adalat8217; programme.

Singhal made it clear that there was no secret construction going on. 8220;It is all in the open. Construction work for the temple has been on for the last eight years. We are not violating any law,8221; he said.

Singhal, however, said the VHP never depended on any government 8220;nor do we depend on it now8221;.

The VHP president denied apprehension that the temple can be constructed overnight with the help of pre-fabricated material. Carving of pillars alone may take several years, he said. Singhal said though VHP and the sants associated with Ram temple were unhappy that the court verdict was getting delayed, they have not set any time frame for construction of the temple.
