The Indian and English cricket teams reached Chandigarh on Tuesday amid tight security. A cavalcade of around 10 vehicles brought the two teams to the Hotel Taj. ASP Madhur Verma said the roads around the hotel had been blocked and no vehicular movement allowed. “Floodlights have been installed around the hotel to have a clear view during night. It will act as a deterrent for miscreants if they try to scale the boundary wall,” he said. The parking of the hotel has been shifted outside the premises and no vehicle is allowed inside. Visitors coming to the restaurant and the lounge of the hotel are frisked by the private security guards of the hotel, with the assistance of Chandigarh Police personnel. Sources said the team members had been communicated not to move out of the hotel without prior permission from the security officers attached with them. The teams will be taken to the PCA Stadium on Wednesday under heavy security cover.
