CHANDIGARH, Feb 19: Institute for Development And Communication and Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, are holding a seminar-cum-workshop on Quality Teacher Education: Policy Planning and Strategies for Implementation of NCTE Curriculum Framework at PU from February 18 to 20.

Today8217;s seminar was about the Senior Secondary Teacher Education Vocational: Curriculum Structure, Pedagogy and Policy Framework.

The participants were of the view that vocational training should be from the grassroot level in schools. Prof A. K. Mishra, Director of Central Institute of Vocational Studies, Bhopal 8212; during the presentation of theme said that training for the teachers was a must.

Self-employment and employment through vocational institutes is only 28 per cent in the north which is quite less than the southern and western states of the country. He added that 40 per cent are earning while learning the vocational courses.
