VADODARA, MAY 30: The MS University Syndicate on Saturday dismissed allegations levelled by senior Senate member J B Rajput that there had been irregularities in the purchase of computers, especially in the university press, library and archaeology department.

While the Syndicate concluded that Rajput8217;s claims were baseless, the members of the purchase committee 8212; including Dean of Faculty of Management Mayank Dholakia 8212; also submitted that there was no possibility of irregularities during purchase of equipment in these particular departments.The total amount spent on purchasing computers was about Rs 30 lakh annually, members told Express Newsline, adding that the purchase committee came into picture only at the time of negotiations on prices.

Explaining the 8220;lengthy8221; procedure followed before purchasing computers, a member said, 8220;Firstly, several committees take a decision about departments where computers are needed. These committees then also decide upon the companies from whom computers are to be purchased.8221;
