
Sharp spells rain in city
Short spells of rain late on Wednesday evening brought relief from the heat, though many areas were water-logged causing inconvenience to people. The rain was accompanied by lightning and thunder. Sharp spells of rains were also recorded on Tuesday.
Medical camps
The Dangs forest department will hold two medical camps in Dangs district at Vansda and Gawanhad on November 8 and November 15 respectively under the food programme for the benefit of tribals. A free medical camp has also been organised at Vansda on Sunday. These camps will be held in association with the district health department, the civil hospital Ahwa and voluntary organisations. More than 500 tribals of Pipalhada and Kharadipada villages were treated in recent camps organised by the forest department, according DFO North Dangs Ramkumar.
Job scheme
Educated unemployed youths of Dangs can apply for bank loans under the Prime Minister8217;s Employment Scheme. Those applying should be staying in the district for more than three years and be between 18 and 35. Also their annual family income should be less than Rs 2400. All those who fulfill these conditions can get free application forms from the additional director tribal, Cottage Industry office, Ahwa.
Guru jayanti
Bhajans and kirtans, reciting of holy verses from the Guru Granth Sahib and other functions marked the Guru Nanak Jayanti here on Wednesday. A function was held at Baba Harnamdas Dham in Timaliawad, Nanpura, which continued till late in the night. A number of plays depicting Guru Nanak8217;s life and musical programmes were also held.
Profit centre
Vadodara: The first independent profit centre of the Gujarat Electricity Board8217;s Rajkot Circle will be inaugurated by Energy Minister Kaushik Patel on Saturday. Setting up of profit centres is one of the conditions laid down by the Asian Development Bank ADB for giving funding support to the Board. The centre is aimed at reducing transmission and distribution losses and providing effective services to the consumers apart from giving speedy connections.

Road closed
The road between Raopura Tower and Old Magistrate8217;s office will remain closed for vehicular traffic from November 9 to December 20 as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation will lay a new 300 mm diameter drainage pipeline four meter below the ground level. Alternatively, the citizens have been asked to use the Laljikui road opposite Mishra Shala number 10.
