13 killed, 25 injured in mishaps
Thirteen people were killed and 25 injured in two separate accidents in the region on Sunday. According to the district police, in the first accident eight people from the city were killed and 17 injured after a truck overturned near Saroli in the district, while the second mishap claimed five lives, three of the same family, when a trailer truck and a van collided head on about 10 kms off Valsad on the National Highway.

Open House
State Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala will preside over an Open House on December 18 at the collectorate. In a statement, the district collector said all those who have any problems should send in a written application addressed to the collector8217;s office on or before December 5. Those cases already pending in court will not be entertained.

Khedut Din
A seminar on the latest techniques used in agriculture, information on farming and an exhibition will be the highlights of a function organised by the Gujarat Agricultural University at the Athwa Farm on Tuesday to mark Khedut Din. Municipal Commissioner S Jagadeesan will inaugurate the function at 8:30 pm.

Surendra Singh Kathwadia was appointed president of the Surat District Panchayat Employees8217; Co-operative Society, while K N Sheth took over as the vice-president in the society8217;s AGM.
