
Minister to unfurl flag
Minister for Water Resource Narottam Patel will unfurl the national flag at the police parade ground here on Tuesday at 9 am. The flag hoisting ceremony will be followed by a parade of police jawans, karate demonstrations and cultural programmes by students of city-based schools.
R-Day discounts
Various trade and business associations have announced special discounts on January 26 on the occasion of the Republic Day. While the Farsan Association has announced that all farsan shops in the city would sell farsan at a concessional rate of Rs 56/kg, biscuits will be sold at Rs 50 per kg. The Oil dealers8217; Association has announced a discount of Rs 25 per tin, while soft drinks will be available at half their cost.
Sankalp yatra
The state government has organised a Sankalp Sidhdhi Yatra8217; to be taken out from all 13 taluka headquarters of the district on Tuesday to create awareness at grassroot level about the various developmental projects and activities undertaken by the district authorities. The yatra, to conclude on February 2, is expected to cover 800 villages of 13 talukas. District Collector R M Shah has directed all government officials to be present at the functions in their respective headquarters. District Rural Development Agency will declare 42 villages of the district as Gokul Gram8217; which will get special benefits.
Police chowki
A new police chowki, the Godadar police chowki, will be inaugurated on Tuesday by City Police Commissioner Kuldip Sharma at 11 am on Tuesday.

Vadodara: Vcare is organising a participatory training programme in veterinary care on February 1. It will be conducted by Dr Andrew Trawford, head, veterinary sciences, of the International Donkey Protection Trust IDPT, Devon in UK.
