PUNE, July 22: Frustrated with quarrelsome relatives, Somnath Pandu Sonavane, a 45-year-old farmer, committed suicide by jumping into a well along with his seven-year-old son at Limbodi village near Bamarati on Monday morning. Alert villagers rescued his son Bapu but could not save the farmer8217;s life.

The Baramati police arrested five relatives in this connection. Somnath8217;s widow had lodged a complaint with the police that the relatives had abetted the suicide. The five are Sadashiv Ganapat Sonavane, Deoram Ganapat Sonavane, Raju Sadashiv Sonavane, Bapu Deoram Sonavane and Bhausaheb Deoram Sonavane. The long-standing dispute was over the right to cultivate some land at Limbodi village.
