
CHANDIGARH, June 19: While a 15-year-old reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison after he failed in his Class X examination, in Sector 14, an 81-year-old resident of Sector 15, fed up with a prolonged illness, ended his life by burning himself in the past 24 hours in the city.
Sukhdeep Singh reportedly consumed Aluminium Phosphate tablets, on Thursday morning. He was rushed to the PGI, where he died in the afternoon.
Sources close to the family said that Sukhdeep, son of a Punjabi Professor in the PU, had recently taken his Class X exams. He reportedly failed in Mathematics.
8220;The result was declared on June 15. Things were OK for two days. Then on June 18 he apologised to his parents and told them that he had consumed poison. He was taken to the PGI, but he died,8221; sources said.
Meanwhile, Dr Nand Kishore, 81, a retired dental surgeon residing in Sector 15 reportedly burnt himself at his residence, early this morning. According to police sources, the octogenarian was suffering from a prolonged illness.
