Strong field for Inter-bank chess

Chennai, Dec 27: The eighth all-India inter-bank chess tournament which gets underway here at Hotel President on Monday has attracted a strong field. The tournament is conducted by Bank of Maharashtra, Chennai Region under the auspices of Banks Sports Board Indian Banks Association. Grandmaster Pravin Thipsay, IMs Ravi Hegde, Sekar Chandra Sahu, Sharad Tilak Union Bank, IM Sudhakar Babu, National B8217; champion GB Prakash Indian Bank are some of the prominent players. The fight for first place is expected to be between Union Bank and Indian Bank, which has most of the strong players. So far 12 banks have confirmed their entry. They have received 70 entries till now.

The tournament will be inaugurated by TS Raghavan, Chairman and MD, Indian Bank.
