VADODARA, June 18: The Commerce faculty of the M S University MSU is yet to begin classes for the next academic year but strikes have begun even before the fresh batch of students can apply for seats in the faculty. This time, it is triggered by the two different student unions8217; fight for the same cause.

The MSU Syndicate had already passed the decision of not allowing the students to appear for their annual examinations unless they had not cleared their Allowed To Keep Terms ATKT examinations, which the students secured in their first and second year.

The Syndicate, in its decision, stated that the students who had secured ATKT would not be allowed to appear for their annual examinations till they did not clear their previous ATKT examinations.

This rule has been applicable in the science faculty for years now. It was made to be applicable for the Commerce and Arts Faculty from the beginning of this academic year.

The students8217; union, however, has demanded that Vice-Chancellor Padma Ramachandran implement it from this year only for the students who would apply for the first year from this year. To protest against the decision of the syndicate, one section of the union had already gone on a hunger strike.

One section of the students union of the commerce section was for the decision of the syndicate. But fearing that the VC might change her decision, with the former section already on strike, this union too has called for an indefinite hunger strike till the issue was not resolved.
