
NASHIK, DEC 15: The Black Day8217; call given by the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry to protest against the hike in power tariff by the Maharashtra State Electricity Board evoked only a partial response. The MCCI has urged the trade and industry and even domestic consumers to switch off power supply from 11 am to 12 noon from 7.30 pm to 8 pm on Monday, to protest against the hike in tariff.
A majority of units in the MIDC industrial estates in Satpur and Ambad responded to the call by switching off power supply for an hour during the day and for 30 minutes in the night.
A delegation of the MCCI, led by its president Khusalchand Podar, met the district collector Manoj Saunik and submitted a memorandum demanding a the hike be withdrawn immediately.
Jwalasingh gang men held: Two highway robbers wanted in connection with several looting incidents in Kalwan and Malegaon have been arrested. The duo, Mohan Kunjarpar and Atiyatan Kunjarpar hail from Rajasthan.
According to police, the duobelong to the Jwalasingh gang which operate on highways in various parts of the State. The modus operandi of the gang is to fix nails or sharp instruments on deserted sections of highways flattening tyres of vehicles and then loot the travellers. Police finding nails affixed to the ground while on their patrol, recognised it to be the handiwork of the gang. They ambushed the duo on the cue and after a minor scuffle arrested them.
The brothers were handed over to the Nashik police today.
Builder penalised: The Nashik District Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum has directed a builder to repay his clients an amount of Rs 3 lakh for failing to construct and hand over flats as stipulated in the agreement signed. Eight persons had filed complaints with the forum accusing J K Builders of cheating them. The builder had collected up to Rs 30,000 each from the customers, after signing a deal to provide one bedroom-hall-kitchen flats for Rs 1.25 lakh.
