PWG Naxals blast revenue office in Andhra
RAJAMUNDHRY: Naxals of the Banned People8217;s War Group PWG blasted the Mandal revenue office building at Addatigala in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh last night.

According to police, eight Naxalities cut off the telephone lines in the Mandal office and set ablaze office documents before blasting it. Police suspect that the attack was in retaliation to the recent killing of Naxalites in a police encounter in Karimnagar district.

Naval aircraft crash; pilot safe VISHAKHAPATNAM:A NAVAL aircraft on a regular sortie caught fire and crashed near the Railway Marshalling Yard in the city, on Wednesday. According to police, the pilot of the single-seater aircraft, however, parachuted to safety. The aircraft was destroyed, police added. Details of the accident were not not immediately available and Naval authorities are not available for comment.

Ancient idols recovered in Chennai
CHENNAI: In a breakthrough operation, Tamil Nadupolice seized 14 ancient idols including two panchaloha idols, from nine persons. The accused, including an ex-convict, were arrested recently by the Tamil Nadu. Police idol wing sleuths, formed to apprehend the culprits following theft from three places in Perambablur district. The gang had lifted the idols belonging to late Pallava, Chola and Vijayanagaram periods, for selling them at a foreign destination. Two lorries used for transporting the idols were also seized. The stolen idols include two of the rarest idols of Dakshinamurthy and Vinayaka belonging to late Pallava and Vijayanagaram periods respectively.

Cheetah to be resurrected
HYDERABAD:
The famed Indian cheetah, now extinct in the country of its origin, may soon come back to life, thanks to the resurrection plans initiated by scientists at Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology CCMB here. The CCMB, a premier institute in the country engaged in molecular research, has unveiled an ambitious project to bring home the cheetah througha series of molecular and assisted reproductive technologies.
