Case against UBI officials
NEW DELHI:
The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against three senior officials of Union Bank of India UBI and four businessmen for allegedly defrauding the bank of Rs 5.25 crore by way of advancing credit to a private firm.

The first information report filed by CBI in Mumbai named UBI8217;s general manager K V S Shyam Sunder, manager S Kalyansundaram both in Mumbai and M S Sundara Rajan, an assistant general manager posted in New Delhi, for allegedly concealing the sanctioned amount of credit by showing it much lower than that sought by the firm, agency sources here said.

4 killed, 9 injured in road accident
NAGPUR:
Four persons, including a seven-year-old girl and her father, were killed on the spot and nine others injured when a brick laden truck overturned in Ramtek, about 40 kilometers from here on Saturday. According to the police, the truck was on its way to Mansar when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve andoverturned. Villagers rushed to the spot and extricated the trapped persons, police said, adding that the truck driver has been arrested.

Newborn found in dustbin
Vijayawada:
police recovered the body of a new born girl from a dustbin at Seetharampuram here today. Police sources said the body was sent to the mortuary in the University General Hospital.

An investigation was on to identify the parent of the baby, the sources added.

Gold sheet for Vishwanath temple
VARANASI:
A master plan has been drawn up for expansion and development of the world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple, in which one of the spires of the temple will be covered with gold.

Chief executive officer of the temple C P Tiwari said here yesterday that Rs two crore would be spent on the gold covering of the spire, for which they would require 50 kg gold. Two spires of the temple are already covered with gold. He said 50 houses around the temple would be acquired for the expansion of the temple and the trust hadalready purchased several houses. The lanes leading to the temple would also be widened.
