MUMBAI, July 11: Spearhead Stanley Fernandes of Bombay Republicans A scored the winning goal as his team beat Khalsa Gymkhana A 2-1 in the BHA senior division hockey league, sponsored by Punjab National Bank, at the Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate, today.

Stanley stole the limelight with his superb dribbling and accurate passing. Besides scoring the winner, he set up Vijay Alphonso for Republicans8217; opening goal.

Khalsa, who were level 1-1 till the last two minutes, netted their lone goal through Vaibhav Lokhande.

Abhishek Uchil struck off a pass from Nelson D8217;Souza in the 15th minute to put Saki ahead and Stevnal D8217;Souza scored the second off Mecanor Misquitta8217;s pass in the67th minute.

The MDFA disciplinary committee suspended Saki8217;s Wilson D8217;Souza for abusing referee X Faria.
